In 2004, a team of innovative engineers and designers set themselves the challenge to design a solar water heating system for the mainstream. Viridian sought partners from the building industry to help with the definition and specification of the product and quicky realised that cost wasn't the only thing holding back solar from mainstream acceptance. Aesthetics, durability and ease of installation were just as important. The result of the collaboration with developers, construction companies, and other building professionals is a product that transforms the attractiveness of this type of renewable energy.

Launched in 2007, the Clearline range of solar water heating panels has helped Viridian Solar become established as a leading solar water heating supplier to the UK construction industry, with growing exports to the Netherlands, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.

The story of innovation has continued, with the development of Clearline PV - a solar photovoltaic version of the successful Clearline heating panel, Cirrus - a new system for sharing solar heat throughout tall buildings, and Clearline Aura - wireless solar energy display.
