The Sims Live Next Door
January 31 2006, Cambridge, UK. Viridian has completed construction of an Automated Test House at its offices in Cambridgeshire.
"This facility allows us to simulate any pattern of hot water use and to measure the energy contribution from the solar panel." says KT Tan, a Director of Viridian. "Many solar companies currently stress the technical efficiency of their products but cannot adequately answer the most simple question posed by customers - 'what will it save?'. This is because there is a complex relationship between the timing of water draw off from the hot water cylinder, and the performance of the panel." Dr. Tan continues "To our knowledge this is the only one of its kind. The Automated Test House is just one aspect of the testing and accreditation programme that our new solar panels are currently undergoing, in our effort to make solar hot water a part of mainstream housebuilding in the UK."
