Viridian Solar and Kier Sheffield to Work Together
Pioneering collaboration in trial retrofit of solar panels
February 2007, Cambridge and Sheffield, UK.
Viridian Solar and Kier Sheffield today announce a collaboration which sees the trialling of solar water heating in three Sheffield homes.
The two companies will work together to create a training facility at Kier Sheffield to train solar installers for the whole region, and prove out a rapid and cost-effective retrofit procedure for a new solar panel developed by Viridian Solar.
In the Spring, three lucky council house tenants in Sheffield will reduce their fuel bills and decrease their carbon dioxide emissions when their houses are chosen as test beds for this new technology. If successful, this technology could be extended more widely into homes in the future.
Dave Sheridan, managing director of Kier Sheffield, commented:
This is an extremely exciting development, and we're pleased to be working with Viridian Solar on such a pioneering scheme for the public sector. We're proud to add another facet to our training range, especially with such obvious environmental benefits, as well as delivering greater economy for our customers."
Stuart Elmes of Viridian Solar said:
"We very much look forward to working with our partners at Kier Sheffield. The Clearline solar panel has been three years in the development and is designed to be cost-effective and quickly installed. We believe that we can drive down the cost of retrofitting solar significantly compared to other systems by working in partnership over a large number of properties."
