“Developers of slate roofed buildings no longer need to put up with boxy solar panels mounted above the roof on brackets,” says KT Tan, Technical Director of Viridian Solar. "The Clearline stands only around 60mm above the top of the slates, with the pipework neatly enclosed out of sight. Other solar panels are over 100mm deep, and can stand more than 150mm above the line of the roof once they are mounted on their roof fixing kits."
The design of the slate roofing kit is modelled on conventional building practice for roof penetrations, making it extremely straightforward for roofing contractors.
Unlike other solar panel systems that mount above the roof covering requiring holes to be drilled through the slates for the pipes to get into the building, Clearline's flexible connections are passed through the roofing felt before you flash and cut slates around the panel. Connection by the plumbing contractor can be at a later time, from inside the building, without them needing to work at height or to disturb the work of the roofers.
