Ballast weight
Secure solar panels against wind forces with the addition of weight.
Drawing No: ISP 014
|
Wind loads in the UK are around 3-4 times higher than those experienced in continental europe, from where many solar panels are imported. When fixing to flat roofs, full account of wind uplift forces should be taken.
In particular when using ballast weight, it is often overlooked that the critical failure mode is sliding or toppling rather than vertical lift.
Viridian Solar can supply wind uplift calculations to help the design team develop an appropriate fixing detail in conjunction with the standard details given above, which should be considered to be for illustrative purposes only. Contact us now for help and advice. |
