PROJECT COMPLETION

December 2021

The Thomas Parsons' Charity owns and operates 25 Almshouses across the City of Ely as well as a range of farms and land holdings. The almshouses are provided to retired people who are over the age of sixty, resident in Ely and experiencing hardship.

In December 2020 the charity received planning permission to construct nine purpose-built new bungalows at Deacons Lane in Ely, which would allow almspeople currently resident in listed buildings at Thomas Parsons Square to move into accomodation specifically designed for older people and better suited to their needs. Residents moved in during October 2021.

Solar was added to the development at the request of the charity to insulate residents from high energy bills. Bowller Group provided roofing and solar installation works to the project, which comprised 36 PV16-320 monocrystalline roof-integrated Clearline fusion solar PV panels across six of the properties.

Andrew Henderson, Director at Bowller Solar said:

"The project was fantastic to be a part of, everything was completed to a high standard and superb quality. Given the nature of the project, the only solution for the renewable detail was Clearline fusion. It is the most aesthetically pleasing, high performance and complete PV system in the market. It is the only integrated option we recommend when considering new slate or tiled roofs that require an integrated system. It is a double win for residents because they are left with a beautiful looking space and their energy bills will be reduced for years to come."
