Pobl is one of the largest housing providers in Wales. Tirion Homes is an independent not-for-profit residential developer. Sero Energy is an innovative start up that provides clean energy services for domestic properties. These three organisations working in partnership with Main Contractor Morganstone and specialist solar company Photon Energy, are pioneering a housing development that is the first of its kind in the UK.

Parc Eirin, comprising 225 two, three and four bedroom homes in Tonyrefail, Porth is the UK's largest low-carbon housing development. The homes successfully integrate advanced renewable technology solutions including ground-source heat pumps, solar PV, battery storage and electric vehicle charging, all centrally managed by a smart energy platform developed by Sero Group.

Insulation levels exceed those in current building regulations to minimise heat losses; heating is provided by ground-source heat pumps with underfloor heating to the ground floor; intelligent hot water cylinders optimise how much hot water is stored and electricity is provided by Clearline fusion solar panels. Each home also comes complete with battery electricity storage and a 3-phase fast home electric vehicle charger.

Sero provides an energy management service for the homes at Parc Eirin which aims to ensure that the occupants' energy needs are met at the lowest cost and lowest carbon. By virtually combining all the homes at Parc Eirin, as well as using smart forecasting and energy storage, Sero bulk-buys electricity like a commercial user at the most economic and low carbon times. The electricity is then stored in the homes batteries for later use lowering costs for residents. At the same time Sero to provides services energy services to the National Grid that help support more renewablesin the energy mix.
