October 2013
Viridian Solar collected the award for 'Best Solar Thermal Installation of the Year' at the Solar Power Portal Awards on 8th October for it's Beckets Grove project with Persimmon Homes.
Beckets Grove is a new development of 323 new homes in Norfolk. The site comprises homes developed under both Persimmon and Charles Church brands and is subject to a planning requirement that 10% of the site energy is generated from renewable sources on site. Persimmon decided that their preference was to provide homes with solar water heating and Viridian Solar helped by developing a site-wide scheme to supply its Clearline in-roof solar heating panels to 290 of the properties.
Viridian Solar also worked with Persimmon to develop options where customers buying off-plan could choose to upgrade their solar installation by purchasing additional Clearline PV photovoltaic solar panels to complement the solar water heating supplied as standard. The Clearline PV panels match the solar heating panels and can be installed side by side with harmonious looks. A number of homes on the site have taken up this offer.
