Viridian Solar has announced availability of its new 300Wp Clearline fusion roof integrated solar panels from April 2017.
"We're delighted to be announcing our new high power panels." said Stuart Elmes, CEO at Viridian Solar. "Our customers tell us that for the retrofit solar market there is an increasing interest in fitting good looking integrated solar, but that people also want the maximum power they can get on their roof. In new build, smaller homes will be able fit more solar on the roof."
"With modules from 260Wp to 300Wp, in polycrystalline or monocrystalline, for fitting in portrait and landscape orientation to either tile or slate roofs, with fixings for Scottish sarking roofs, and step-in and step-out array shapes there is simply no other high-quality fully-integrated solar system that comes close to matching Clearline fusion."
The new panels achieve their higher power based on the use of more efficient PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Cell) monocrystalline solar cells. Dr. KT Tan, Technical Director at Viridian Solar explains:
"PERC technology is not that new, having been invented in the University of New South Wales in Australia in 1983, but it is only now that it has reached commercial levels of production. Manufacturing PERC cells requires additional processing steps to create an extra layer on the rear of the cell. The extra layer boosts the efficiency of the cell in a number of ways including by reflecting light back into the cell. Not all light is absorbed in a solar cell and the layer added on the rear of the cell reflects unabsorbed light back into the cell for a second attempt."
Dr. Tan explains the PERC cell technology in more detail in this blog post
The new 300Wp PV16 modules will be available in small quantities in April and for larger orders from June.
