National Sales Manager UK

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience with a yearly bonus and car allowance.

Reporting To: Chief Sales Officer

Location: Home/ Cambridge office based, National travel.

This is an excellent sales leadership opportunity to work for a market leading integrated solar company in the UK. Viridian Solar is now looking for someone special to head up the UK sales team and drive the business forward. This is a very exciting opportunity - with new building regulations driving a rapid growth in demand for roof integrated solar, Viridian Solar is well positioned as a subsidiary of Marley Ltd and now part of the Marshalls PLC group. Viridian Solar will also be launching new products during the year increasing its revenue and customer base.

The company's growth strategy is to build on its strong position in the UK new building housing market with group supply agreements with leading housebuilders. The right person will have a proven track record in the construction industry and will work with solar installation businesses as well as housebuilders, electrical and roofing contractors. Your primary task will be to develop existing relationships with house builders, wholesalers, and solar installers across the UK. Targeting house builders and then working closely with the design team to assist these house builders with energy specification requirements. We anticipate this role will be reported to by a Business Development Manager and transition to managing the internal sales team once trained.


  • Manage and grow the UK sales portfolio
  • Maintaining a good relationship with our key house builder and solar customers
  • Carry out corporate and local customer presentations
  • Manage/coach/mentor internal and external Sales Executives
  • Provide on-going skills development to sales team and evaluate their performance to motivate and enhance effectiveness
  • Foster peer collaboration across your sales team to enhance the performance of each individual
  • Conduct weekly progress meetings with Sales Executives to review pipeline, sales activity and obstacles
  • Develop a geographical territory/account plan to maximize revenue and report monthly
  • Generate monthly/quarterly forecasts and commitments to senior sales leadership
  • Join Sales Executives meetings with prospects and customers in order to help drive business as well as to support and provide on-going feedback
  • Provide feedback to senior management on market trends and methods to become more effective in meeting our goals through deeper service to our customers

  • Collaborating with members of the sales team to record and look after incoming enquires from private individuals
  • Give quarterly updates on sales progress and opportunities


  • Knowledge of the house building industry, including regulatory requirements
  • Self-starting, showing initiative to close sales
  • Full UK driving license
  • Ability and willingness to carry out domestic and occasionally international overnight travel
  • Experience closing specification product deals within the construction industry is highly desirable
  • Organised, accurate
  • Ability to work well on your own and in a team
  • Good communicator verbal and written word
  • Confident to make outgoing telephone calls
  • Computer literate
  • Presentable
  • Approachable, sociable and a reliable team player
  • Solar knowledge would be an advantage but training will be provided
  • Fluent in English - spoken and written
